Urban pilgrimage means:
Being under way in your town or city with the sole purpose of spending time with God.
Why are we doing this?
We are searching for routines, methods that enhance our spirituality, which are a bit more modern and fit in well with our environment, lifestyle and neighbourhood. These routines must also easily fit our daily and weekly schedules.
Time with God
For many people who want to spend time with God comes the recurring question,
“How do we go about this?”
We’ve found that the good old ‘quiet time with God’ just isn’t for us anymore.
Simply meeting with God on Sundays or even at a conference is great! But not withstanding – it isn’t sufficient time. Also, it does not exactly what we understand about having ‘a relationship’ with God.
Moving towards God
It is necessary to open up ourselves in order to encounter God. He, God, is always ready for an encounter or to meet with us, but unfortunately, we are not always ready or open to meet with Him. There are many things that occupy our time, distractions, or emergency situations. However, we have to open ourselves up to God and move towards Him.
We took these word literally because we have also come to realize that we want to live out our spirituality completely or holistically. We believe that spirituality encompasses not only the spirit and soul of a person, but body as well. Therefore we also move physically towards God.
Regularly taking time out with God
If we want to have a fruitful spiritual life, then we have to meet with God regularly. However, this should fit our lives and lifestyles. There are recurrences or routines that help make up our everyday lives such as sleeping, eating and working. Likewise, when we want a fitting spiritual life we must participate regularly or see it as one of our daily routines.
